Fiji secured a thrilling comeback victory against Spain, winning 26-24 in a tightly contested match at the Perth 7s. The victory was highlighted by the impactful performance of Kavekini Tanivanuakula, who made a significant contribution off the bench, scoring two crucial tries in the second half.
The match began with Spain taking an early lead, scoring within the first minute. Fiji’s defense struggled initially, resulting in Joseva Talacolo receiving a yellow card for a deliberate knock. Despite being a man down, Fiji fought back, with Sevuloni Mocenacagi scoring a try, followed by Vuiviawa Naduvalo, who capitalized on a loose ball to score, leaving Fiji trailing by just five points at the half with Spain leading 19-14.
In the second half, Tanivanuakula quickly leveled the game at 19-all with a remarkable 80-meter run for his second try. Although Spain managed to score again right at the end, they missed the conversion, allowing Fiji to take the win.
