Ba Golf Club Captain Ashish Chand achieved an impressive victory at the recent Ba Open Golf Tournament, claiming the overall gross title in the amateur division. Held over the weekend at the FSC Ba Golf Club, the two-day event brought together a diverse group of participants, including professionals, women, juniors, and beginners, all demonstrating exceptional talent and sportsmanship.
Chand finished with an outstanding score of 146 over 36 holes, outpacing competitor Shakeel Pillay, who scored 150. In addition to Chand’s individual success, Sanjay Sharma emerged as the overall nett champion with a score of 130, while Joeli Dakunimata closely followed with a nett score of 132.
In the professional division, Tomasi Tuivuna took the title with a score of 137, leaving Amitesh Chandra and Zoheer Ahmed to tie for second with scores of 140. Arti Sharma topped the women’s category with a gross score of 182, showcasing the depth of talent across all divisions.
Chand expressed pride in the tournament’s success, describing it as one of the largest in recent history, and commended both the players and organizers for their efforts. He noted the vibrant atmosphere, saying, “It was great to see so many participants, especially the juniors and beginners. The course was in good condition, and the level of competition was very high.”
Nivaan Chand led the way in the junior division with a total score of 207, while Mohammed Fawaz took top honors among the beginners with a score of 65, indicating a promising future for young golfers in the region.
This year’s tournament, supported by R.C. Manubhai, not only highlighted remarkable individual performances but also fostered community engagement and inspired upcoming players.
