April 29, 2026 Fiji Forecast: Partly Cloudy With Brief Showers and Isolated Afternoon Thunderstorms Over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, SE Winds and Moderate to Rough Seas

Partly cloudy conditions with brief showers are expected across several island groups through to midnight tomorrow, while most other areas remain largely fine with only isolated afternoon or evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Southeast winds will be moderate to fresh, and seas are expected to be moderate to rough.

Brief showers are likely over Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby islets. Elsewhere conditions will be mainly fine apart from the chance of an isolated shower or two during the afternoon or evening. The same general pattern should continue into Friday, with cloudy periods and brief showers persisting across the same wetter districts.

Thunderstorm development is a possibility on Viti Levu and Vanua Levu during the afternoon or evening, particularly where sea‑breezes and daytime heating enhance activity. Mariners and coastal users should note the moderate to fresh southeast winds and moderate to rough seas, which may affect small craft and some coastal operations.

Local highlights: Navua/Suva/Nausori is expected to be partly cloudy with brief showers, today’s maximum around 31°C, tomorrow’s low 22°C and high 31°C, with Friday looking cloudier with brief showers (Min 21°C, Max 31°C). Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Tavua/Rakiraki will be generally fine aside from afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms; today’s highs near 33°C and tomorrow’s lows around 22°C with highs about 33°C (Friday highs easing slightly to about 32°C). Labasa, Sigatoka/Coral Coast and other population centres follow similar trends of mainly fine conditions save for isolated late‑day showers and thunder.

Rotuma currently sits in a southeasterly flow and should see mainly fine weather today, but a trough of low pressure is likely to affect the island from tomorrow. Showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to develop then. Winds will be moderate to fresh southeasterlies with seas moderate to rough. Temperatures there are running near a maximum of 32°C, with tomorrow’s range around Min 24°C, Max 32°C and Friday remaining cloudy with some showers.
