A trough of low pressure over the Fiji group, combined with a moist east to southeast wind flow, will keep northern and eastern areas unsettled through tomorrow with frequent showers and isolated thunderstorms, some producing heavy falls. Winds are currently moderate east to southeast and are expected to freshen from a southeasterly direction tomorrow, while seas will increase from moderate to moderate/rough.
Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls are most likely for Sigatoka–Korolevu, Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra and Rakiraki, the Yasawa, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Taveuni, southern Bua and parts of Cakaudrove will see cloudy periods with showers and isolated thunderstorms, though showers there should become more occasional later today. Elsewhere across the group conditions will be partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers, but afternoon or evening thunderstorms with heavy falls remain possible.
Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas, so residents in vulnerable locations should be prepared for rapid runoff and rising streams or drains during intense downpours. Mariners and small‑craft operators should note that seas are expected to become rougher as winds increase from tomorrow, and exercise caution as conditions deteriorate offshore.
City and island outlooks carry similar themes: Navua, Suva and Nausori will have occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls (today’s top about 30°C; tomorrow 23–30°C; Saturday turning to cloudy periods and some showers with a slightly warmer maximum). Nadi, Lautoka and Ba are likely to be partly cloudy with isolated afternoon or evening showers and possible thunderstorms producing heavy falls (today’s max around 32°C; tomorrow 23–32°C). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast may see occasional showers and isolated storms, while Yasawa and parts of the Mamanuca will have some showers with isolated thunderstorms, easing for the Yasawa group later today.
Rotuma remains under an easterly flow and is expected to be fine apart from brief showers, with moderate easterly winds and moderate seas (today’s max about 32°C; tomorrow 24–32°C; Saturday brief showers). The broader outlook for Saturday shows cloudier conditions with showers for many northern and eastern districts and generally fine weather elsewhere apart from the usual afternoon or evening shower and thunderstorm risks; localized heavy falls and brief flooding remain possible in affected areas.
