Twenty-eight staff members from the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) have successfully completed the Pacific Leadership Programme, a collaborative initiative delivered in partnership with the New Zealand Customs Service. This program aimed to enhance leadership capabilities across the organization.

Initiated in February 2025, the program convened participants every two months, fostering a diverse engagement that included representatives from Customs, Tax, and Corporate Services. The curriculum emphasized leading with purpose, grasping emotional culture, fostering strong relationships, and driving positive transformation within their teams.

The conclusion of the program featured a Talanoa session, where participants shared their leadership experiences in front of a panel led by Joe Cannon, the Deputy Chief Executive for International and Governance at New Zealand Customs. Cannon praised the graduates for exemplifying the type of leadership required to tackle future challenges facing the Pacific region.

FRCS Chief Executive Officer Udit Singh expressed his congratulations to the graduates, highlighting the program’s commitment to leadership grounded in influence, empathy, and integrity. He noted that such leadership is essential in fortifying organizational culture and enhancing collaboration within the service. Singh also extended his gratitude to the New Zealand Government, the New Zealand Customs Service, and program facilitators Shane Panettiere and Nicky Mark for their support.

Participants emphasized the program’s potential to create a lasting impact on their professional and personal lives, equipping them to become more effective leaders and engaged members of their communities. The positive feedback from the graduates indicates a strong commitment to fostering a culture of leadership and service within the FRCS. The initiative showcases a proactive approach to creating skilled leaders who are prepared to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the Pacific region as a whole.
