The government has received a significant dividend payment of $3,902,984.77 from Yaqara Pastoral Company Limited (YPCL), which represents 50 percent of the company’s net profit after tax for the combined financial years of 2018 and 2019. This noteworthy payout was presented by YPCL Chairman Uraia Waibuta to the Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, and Public Enterprise, Charan Jeath Singh, during a recent meeting with the Board of Directors and senior management of the agricultural-sector public enterprise.
During the meeting, Minister Singh emphasized the need for YPCL to focus on completing outstanding audits, highlighting the importance of transparency, accountability, and strong financial governance in the public enterprise sector. “Yaqara Pastoral Company Limited is a brand of national significance in its own right. My role is to ensure that strategic assets such as YPCL receive the support they need to grow stronger, become more commercially robust, and deliver greater value to our people. Financial discipline and modern reporting are critical first steps in this journey,” he stated.
Minister Singh expressed gratitude to the Board and management for the substantial dividend payout, acknowledging its critical role in promoting economic growth and community development. Chairman Waibuta reciprocated by thanking the Minister for choosing YPCL for his first official visit, describing this gesture as a strong affirmation of the government’s commitment to enhancing the performance of public enterprises.
This development not only underscores the government’s support for key agricultural sectors but also illustrates the focus on fostering financial accountability within public enterprises, paving the way for future growth and prosperity.
