Torika Boseiwaqa from Ba made an impressive leap to secure the gold medal in the girls under-12 long jump at the Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championships held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva last Friday.
Following her exciting win, Boseiwaqa shared her joy with The Fiji Times during the medal presentation. She emphasized the relentless training she underwent in preparation for this moment, saying, “I am very happy to have won the gold medal. We have always been training very hard so that I could win the gold medal.”

In the under-12 long jump, silver went to Bulou Vunakece from Suva One, while the bronze was clinched by Grace Waqarua from Lautoka. Beyond athletics, the year eight student from Ba Sangam Primary School is also a member of the Ba girls soccer team, which is preparing for the Primary Schools Inter District Competition scheduled for October in Labasa.
