More than 4,000 applications for the Back-to-School Assistance program remain under verification, even as students enter Week Seven of the school term. Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro reported that the ministry received a total of 212,845 applications, with an impressive approval rate of 98 percent, translating to 208,764 approved applications.

The government has allocated $42.1 million towards this program, which covers school fees and provides additional education-related support. Furthermore, of that amount, $41.8 million has been disbursed directly to families to help manage essential school expenses.

Despite the high approval rate, there are currently 4,081 applications still being processed. Radrodro mentioned that these delays are primarily due to issues such as duplicate entries or incomplete information. He emphasized that the ministry is collaborating closely with the Ministry of Finance to resolve these outstanding cases as swiftly as possible.

The minister reassured parents and guardians that efforts are underway to ensure that no eligible child is overlooked as the ministry approaches the final phase of the assistance program. This commitment reflects the government’s dedication to supporting education and maintaining a focus on the needs of students and their families during this crucial time.
