The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced an exciting opportunity for a Sexual Health Advisor in Fiji, aimed at enhancing the country’s sexual health framework as a vital aspect of its national health system. This consultancy position will focus on bolstering efforts surrounding HIV awareness and prevention.

The contract is a full-time position lasting 11 months and is being organized in collaboration with the World Population Fund Fiji. Based in Suva, the consultancy is set to commence on February 1, 2026, and applications are open from January 13 until January 20, 2026.

The selected consultant will play a crucial role in supporting Fiji’s Ministry of Health and Medical Services, particularly through its Sexual Health and HIV Unit. The individual will closely collaborate with the National HIV Outbreak and Cluster Response Taskforce to ensure that sexual health is recognized as a fundamental aspect of health and human rights, in line with WHO’s global standards.

Key responsibilities of the advisor will include developing a nationally endorsed sexual health strategy, conducting thorough situation and gap analyses, and formulating a costed implementation plan. This plan aims to integrate various components, such as HIV prevention, the management of sexually transmitted infections, gender-based violence services, and mental health initiatives, into a cohesive and person-centered approach.

A significant aspect of this role is focused on capacity building. The advisor will mentor Fiji’s national Sexual Health Officer to reinforce leadership skills, policy development, and the delivery of healthcare services. The advisor will also be tasked with producing clinical guidelines, crafting training curricula, initiating workforce development, and devising community engagement strategies designed to minimize stigma and enhance access to health services.

This consultancy represents a proactive step towards improving public health outcomes in Fiji by addressing critical areas of sexual health and demonstrating a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for all individuals.
