The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, in collaboration with Energy Fiji Limited, is launching a nationwide awareness campaign to inform citizens about a new electricity tariff structure set to take effect on January 1st, 2026. This initiative aims to educate the public regarding the upcoming tiered rates that will apply to both domestic and commercial electricity users.

Teams are actively engaging with consumers across the Central, Western, and Northern divisions over the next two days, providing insights into how the new tariff system may impact monthly electricity bills. To facilitate understanding, the public is encouraged to visit awareness booths and bring their most recent electricity bills for personalized estimates regarding their potential costs.

Beginning in January, Fiji will transition to a tiered electricity pricing model that correlates power costs directly with consumption levels. Notably, over half of domestic customers utilizing 100 units or less each month will not experience any increase in their electric bills, ensuring that many households remain financially unaffected by the new structure. This measure is aimed at making electricity more affordable for lower consumption users while encouraging energy efficiency among consumers.
