Westpac Bank is taking significant steps to enhance its connections with businesses across the Pacific by scheduling regular visits from its senior executives based in Australia. Recently, Emma Low, Managing Director of Westpac Pacific, visited Fiji to engage with both staff and customers.

During her visit, Low emphasized the bank’s dedication to empowering women in the workplace and its commitment to providing innovative solutions to clients throughout Fiji and the wider Pacific region. Shane Smith, CEO of Westpac Fiji, highlighted the importance of this initiative in advancing women’s roles within the organization.

Low also met with the Women of Westpac (WoW) Fiji group in Namaka, Nadi, which is an extension of a similar initiative in Australia. This advocacy group aims to support and motivate women at Westpac, encouraging them to reach their full potential. Around 40 women employees participated in discussions led by Low about mentorship, work-life balance, career development, and overall well-being.

She expressed a strong commitment to supporting current and future female leaders within Westpac in the Pacific. Low was inspired by the stories and enthusiasm shared by the employees, affirming the positive impact of such gatherings.

Additionally, Low visited the historic Westpac Levuka Branch, established in 1909, and praised the small team there for maintaining excellent relationships with the local community. She commended their exceptional customer service, noting how their dedication reflects Westpac’s core values.

This initiative by Westpac illustrates the importance of fostering professional relationships and empowering women in leadership roles, which promises to have a lasting impact on the community in the Pacific region. It’s encouraging to see a major financial institution actively engaging with local staff and customers while championing women’s empowerment.

Overall, this effort aligns well with Westpac’s vision of building a more inclusive and supportive workplace culture, which could pave the way for further positive changes in the region.
