The Nadi weather office has announced that weather conditions in Fiji are expected to improve later today, following a period of heavy rain. A heavy rain warning is currently in effect for the entire country as a trough and low-pressure system near Kadavu continues to move southwest away from Fiji.
The region has experienced significant rain, with heavy downpours and occasional thunderstorms affecting most areas. However, the weather is anticipated to transition from heavy rain to lighter showers later today.
A flash flood warning remains active for low-lying areas prone to flooding, including small streams in regions such as Vanua Levu, Suva, Nausori, Naitasiri, Tailevu, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, and Nadi. Residents in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and prepare for potential flooding as the situation evolves.
As improvements in the weather are on the horizon, it provides a sense of relief for many who have been affected by the recent severe conditions. The hope is that the rain will ease and allow for recovery and normalcy to return to the areas impacted.
