ACT Brumbies backrower Tabua Tuinakauvadra has earned a spot in the Wallaroos’ 40-player squad for the upcoming Test against Fijiana XV and the Pacific Four Series. At just 22 years old, Tuinakauvadra, who has Fijian roots, has already made an impact by playing 11 Tests for the Wallaroos since her debut against Fiji in 2023.
This squad is notable for including 11 uncapped players, allowing new athletes an opportunity to represent Australia after a successful Super W season. Among the exciting additions is Australian 7s star Charlotte Caslick, who is poised to make her debut in the 15s format after her former teammates, Tia Hinds and Bienne Teriata, opted out of the HSBC SVNS World Championships.
Head Coach Jo Yapp expressed enthusiasm for the squad’s potential, stating, “After a very competitive and successful Super Rugby Women’s competition, we have selected a squad that can continue the momentum built off the WXV 2 win last year.” With a series of seven Test matches scheduled over the next three months, Yapp noted the significance of these preparations leading up to the World Cup.
The final squad will be trimmed down to 30 players before the Wallaroos’ Test against Fiji on May 3. This upcoming series is anticipated to be a pivotal moment for the team, showcasing their determination to improve and achieve greater success in women’s rugby.
Additionally, the anticipation surrounding upcoming women’s rugby showcases both teams’ commitment to building a bright future for the sport. This focus on nurturing new talent reflects the growing investment and interest in women’s rugby, promising an exciting and competitive atmosphere ahead.
