Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Communications Manoa Kamikamica is set to present a Ministerial Statement regarding the technical and financial investigation of Walesi in Parliament this morning. In a prior conversation with FijiLive, Kamikamica noted that the report concerning Walesi PTE Limited, conducted by the Office of the Auditor-General, is to be reviewed by the Cabinet before being brought to Parliament.

The Auditor-General released the report last month. Kamikamica indicated that the next steps would depend on the findings, as the report might be forwarded to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption if necessary.

Since 2015, a total of $125.6 million has been allocated to establish and implement the satellite digital television platform. This significant investment highlights the government’s commitment to enhancing digital communication and accessibility.

The upcoming statement and Cabinet review underscore the importance of transparency and accountability in government spending. This can be seen as a positive step towards ensuring that public funds are being used effectively and for their intended purposes, paving the way for increased trust in governmental operations.
