The Ministry of Immigration has released a statement to address misinformation circulating on social media regarding the recent arrest of four foreign nationals involved in a cocaine bust in Vatia. Permanent Secretary for Immigration, Aliki Salusalu, confirmed that these individuals are Ecuadorian nationals and possess valid Ecuadorian passports.

Salusalu clarified that, in contrast to claims on various platforms, they do not hold any Fijian passports or citizenship. He underscored the necessity for accurate public information to prevent further confusion surrounding the individuals’ nationalities and travel documents.

In support of the investigation, the Police Force is actively continuing its work, with the Ministry of Immigration committed to providing full assistance as required. Ensuring clarity and transparency during these proceedings is crucial, not only for the integrity of the investigation but also for maintaining public trust. This proactive communication is intended to dispel misinformation and bolster the community’s understanding of the case.
