USP Staff Strike Ends: What’s Next?

The University has announced that following a four-day strike, all staff members have returned to their duties as of yesterday.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, a joint statement from the Association of the University of the South Pacific Staff (AUSPS) and the University of the South Pacific Staff Union (USPSU) confirmed that the striking staff were encouraged by their unions to resume work starting Thursday, October 24.

The unions have indicated that they will continue to oversee progress regarding their request for a fair and transparent investigation into Vice Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia.

If necessary, the unions are prepared to initiate another strike on short notice. Their strike mandate remains active until February 14, 2025.
