The University has announced that all staff members have returned to their duties following a four-day strike. This decision was communicated in a joint statement by the Association of the University of the South Pacific Staff (AUSPS) and the University of the South Pacific Staff Union (USPSU) on October 23, 2024. The unions requested that all striking staff resume work starting October 24, 2024.

Despite the return to work, the unions emphasized that they will continue to advocate for a thorough and transparent investigation concerning Vice Chancellor and President Professor Pal Ahluwalia. They indicated that if necessary, they are prepared to initiate another strike on short notice.

The mandate for their strike remains in effect until February 14, 2025.
