Unity Fiji is positioning itself to be “battle ready” by August 2026 in anticipation of the upcoming general election, despite the exact date still being undecided. Party leader Savenaca Narube expressed confidence in the party’s preparations, stating that their readiness surpasses that of any previous elections.

Narube emphasized the importance of community engagement, highlighting that Unity Fiji is actively listening to the concerns of the public and assisting families in increasing their earnings to tackle daily challenges. He believes that trust in political leadership is crucial, asserting, “People do not see any other political party that they can trust to save this country. Unity is the only party standing. The backbone of democracy is trust.”

Should Unity Fiji have the opportunity to form the government, Narube outlined a comprehensive agenda that includes restoring confidence, fostering ethnic tolerance, enhancing productivity, eliminating economic exclusions, reforming institutions, and updating laws. He acknowledged the challenges associated with this agenda but assured supporters that they have actionable plans in place to achieve these goals.

Furthermore, Narube mentioned that the party’s manifesto is currently being drafted and that there is significant interest from potential candidates looking to contest the elections. He also highlighted the importance of vigilance against violations of electoral laws and the Constitution as the election approaches.

In his call to the media, Narube requested neutrality, underscoring the media’s critical role in the democratic process. “We seek the assistance of the mainstream media to remain neutral and give all parties a level playing field in these elections,” he stated.

Overall, Unity Fiji’s proactive approach to community engagement and commitment to rebuilding trust may resonate with voters seeking stability and effective governance in the lead-up to the elections.
