Anticipation is rising for the Sanatan Sthapna Diwas Tournament 2024, which is set to commence tomorrow. This exciting event celebrates 145 years of unity among the Sanatan family.

Avikash Sen, the secretary of Fiji Sanatan, emphasized that the tournament is a significant occasion for honoring the heritage and unity of the Sanatan community. The tournament will feature two zones: the Southern and Western Divisions. Matches in the Western Division will occur at the Central College grounds in Lautoka, while the Southern Division will host events at Saraswati Primary School in Manoca, Rewa, and Pundit Shreedhar College grounds.

The tournament will showcase eight teams competing in the open grade category, along with four teams in the Masters Grade. Notably, a netball competition will also be part of the festivities. One of the primary goals of the tournament is to promote sports engagement among the youth and to instill religious values for future generations.

Dhirendra Nand, the national president, highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle and staying drug-free, particularly for the youth during this festive season.

For the Western division, the Open grade teams include Wairabetia, Nadi, Barara, Saweni, Ba, Votualevu, Lautoka, and Sigatoka. The Masters grade teams consist of Ba, Nadi, Sigatoka, Valley, Lautoka, and Saweni. In the Southern division, the Open grade teams are Nasinu, Nabua, Narere Makoi, Rewa, Uluisila, Navua, Bua, and Nakasi, while the Masters grade teams feature Nasinu, Rewa Combine, Rewa Legends, and Navua.

This tournament not only serves as a platform for athletic competition but also fosters a sense of community and connection to cultural roots, making it a vital event for the Sanatan community. The celebration embodies the spirit of togetherness, which could inspire future generations to embrace their heritage positively.
