Nadi is gearing up for an exciting influx of music fans as UB40’s Big Love Tour makes a stop at Prince Charles Park on January 30. This concert is part of the band’s extensive 12-country world tour, marking a significant event for the local community.
Muni Gopal Reddy, CEO of the Nadi Town Council, mentioned that preparations are well underway, with the concert grounds already handed over to the organizers. The stage is taking shape and essential amenities are being set in place. Ensuring the safety of attendees is a priority, with police strategically positioned around the venue to monitor darker areas for added security.
Reddy expressed confidence in the council’s experience, noting, “Each year, we learn and improve on the services for big events like this. We have the capabilities to host these festivals and look forward to another successful concert.” The council has also coordinated with the Fiji Roads Authority to make open parking spaces available, ensuring safe and secure access for concert-goers.
This concert represents Nadi’s third-largest musical gathering in three years, further establishing the town’s reputation as a growing hub for international music festivals. Local band Ouvacast has been confirmed as the opening act for the much-anticipated concert, alongside renowned reggae groups Paradise Roots and New Zealand’s Katchafire.
Ouvacast’s lead singer, Nicky Beddoes, expressed excitement about this milestone opportunity, noting the pressure that comes with making a strong first impression. “We just hope to leave a good mark before we get off the stage, so it’s very important to us,” she said. Beddoes also emphasized the significance of UB40’s return to Fiji after over a decade, recognizing the band’s legendary status.
Fans can expect a massive turnout as UB40 makes its much-anticipated return, promising an unforgettable night filled with music and celebration. This concert not only highlights Nadi’s vibrant cultural scene but also reaffirms its position as a destination for premier musical events.
