A Tropical Disturbance identified as TD09F is currently positioned in the far northeast of Fiji and is expected to move southward while gradually increasing in intensity over the next few days. According to the latest bulletin from the Fiji Meteorological Service, TD09F may enter Fiji waters near the northeast of Vanua Levu as a Tropical Depression, although the potential for it to develop into a Tropical Cyclone remains low to moderate.

In anticipation of the disturbance, a strong wind warning has been issued for the Northern Division and northeastern regions of Viti Levu, extending from Tailevu North through Ra-Rakiraki up to Tavua, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Lau, Lomaiviti groups, and has now included Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Furthermore, a heavy rain alert is in effect for the entire Northern Division and the Yasawa Group, with additional warnings extending to the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu, and parts of eastern Viti Levu.

Residents are advised to expect significant rainfall throughout the affected regions, which may lead to localized flooding, especially given that some areas are already saturated from previous weather conditions. Community preparedness and timely updates from local authorities are crucial for mitigating risks associated with flooding and high winds.

This situation highlights the importance of vigilance and readiness in the face of potential weather-related challenges. Building community resilience and supporting one another can make a significant difference during adverse weather events like these.

In conclusion, while the disturbance presents challenges, it also serves as a reminder for communities to come together, ensuring safety and preparedness during such critical times.
