A tropical disturbance identified as 05F is expected to pass southwest of Fiji on Wednesday, but it is projected to have no direct impact on the nation. The Fiji Meteorological Service has classified TD05F as a tropical disturbance and noted that there is a moderate chance it could develop into a cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.

Currently, TD05F is situated approximately 300 kilometers north of New Caledonia and has been moving east-southeastward at a speed of 26 kilometers per hour over the past six hours. Despite this movement, the forecast suggests that the system will weaken after approximately 36 hours as it encounters significant dry air while traversing southwest of Fiji.

In a recent update, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center reported that TD05F has reached category one tropical cyclone strength, featuring wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour.

As the situation develops, the potential for further intensification will be closely monitored. For now, residents are reminded to stay informed through local weather updates and to prepare for any changes that may arise in the coming days. Staying informed is key to ensuring safety during unpredictable weather events.

In summary, while the tropical disturbance poses some risk, the current outlook suggests manageable conditions for Fiji.
