“Tribunal Set to Investigate Suspended Director of Public Prosecutions: Key Details Revealed”

The Judicial Services Commission has confirmed that the tribunal investigating suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde, will convene next month to address the matter.

According to a statement from the Commission, the suspended DPP has been informed of the intended hearing dates, which are set for August 19 to 30. The tribunal’s report is scheduled to be submitted to the Office of the President by September 23.

Acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo stated that the tribunal, which began its work in February 2024, has already held several pre-hearing meetings with Pryde’s legal team.

Justice Temo also mentioned that the JSC has referred an additional complaint against the suspended DPP, alleging unlawful benefit payments under his contract amounting to $288,999.13.

“In the meantime, the JSC has recommended, and the President has agreed, that the DPP’s salary be suspended pending the tribunal’s findings,” stated Temo.

“The suspended DPP has been informed of these actions. While the JSC respects the rights and freedom of the press in covering this matter, it has refrained from commenting further as it is currently under the jurisdiction of the Presidential tribunal,” Justice Temo added.
