A 14-year-old boy tragically lost his life in a road accident in Nabua on Friday. The victim, identified as Farhan Ali, was struck by a vehicle driven by a 54-year-old man who reportedly lost control of his vehicle, causing it to collide with the side of a bus before hitting Farhan as he waited at a traffic light to cross the road.

Emergency services quickly transported Farhan to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital for medical treatment. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival at the hospital. His funeral is scheduled for 5pm today at the 9 miles cemetery.

This heart-wrenching incident exemplifies the ongoing concerns about road safety, especially for vulnerable pedestrians like children. Similar incidents have occurred in the region recently, where young lives have been affected by road accidents. Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana has called for increased vigilance among drivers, urging adherence to traffic regulations to help protect pedestrians.

As authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this accident, there is a growing hope that such tragedies can be prevented through greater community awareness and improved road safety measures. The collective efforts of the community in promoting road safety initiatives could pave the way for a safer environment for all, particularly our youth.
