The police have found the body of a 5-year-old boy who tragically drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu, yesterday. The body was recovered this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern region, reported that the boy was swimming in the river when the incident occurred. He urged parents to supervise their children closely, especially with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays soon to follow.
The Fiji Police Force also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the nearby communities for their assistance in the search for the young boy’s body.
