A 5-year-old boy tragically drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River yesterday. His body was located this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the child was swimming in the river when the tragedy occurred. He urged parents to closely supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching in just a week and school holidays coming up soon. SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their assistance in the search for the young boy’s body.
