Tragic Drowning: Community Unites in Search for Boy

Police have recovered the body of a 5-year-old boy who drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu. The body was located this morning.

According to Divisional Police Commander Eastern (DPC/E) Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Joape Cakacaka, the boy was swimming in the river yesterday afternoon when the tragic incident occurred.

“The Fiji Police Force urges all parents to supervise their children at all times,” SSP Cakacaka stated. He also noted that the cyclone season is only a week away, followed shortly by school holidays.

Additionally, the Fiji Police Force expressed their gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities who assisted in the search for the young boy.
