Police have recovered the body of a 5-year-old boy who tragically drowned in the Rewa River near Waidra, Baulevu. The body was found this morning following the incident that occurred yesterday afternoon while the child was swimming.
Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern region, emphasized the importance of parental supervision. He urged all parents to keep a close watch on their children, especially with the approaching cyclone season and the upcoming school holidays.
The Fiji Police Force also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the local communities for their efforts in the search for the young boy.
