A tragic incident occurred yesterday in Waidra, Baulevu, where a 5-year-old boy drowned in the Rewa River. His body was recovered this morning.

Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, reported that the young boy was swimming when the tragedy took place. He urged all parents to closely supervise their children, especially with the cyclone season approaching and the school holidays coming up soon.

SSP Cakacaka also expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and the local communities for their assistance in the search for the boy’s body.
