A tragic incident occurred yesterday when a 5-year-old boy drowned in Waidra, Baulevu, near the Rewa River. His body was retrieved this morning. Senior Superintendent of Police Joape Cakacaka, the Divisional Police Commander for the Eastern Division, stated that the boy was swimming when the accident took place. He urged parents to closely supervise their children, particularly with the cyclone season approaching and school holidays forthcoming. SSP Cakacaka expressed gratitude to the Goneturaga na Vunivalu of Kasavu and local communities for their efforts in searching for the boy.
