A man in his fifties is believed to be the latest victim of a road fatality in the country following an accident in Davuilevu this morning.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the Director of Traffic, reported that the victim was driving home after completing his night shift when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed into a post.
Emergency responders from the National Fire Authority and Police arrived at the scene. The victim was transported for medical treatment but was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival at the medical facility.
SSP Divuana indicated that a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
Currently, the national road death toll stands at 40, compared to 63 for the same period last year.
