The Fiji Police Force has launched an investigation into a case of alleged negligence after a tragic incident resulted in the death of a one-year-old boy in Naitonitoni, Navua. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mitieli Divuana, the child was with a parent and a sibling when he reportedly left home without being noticed and wandered onto the road. There, he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
SSP Divuana stated that the driver immediately took the child to Navua Hospital, where he was sadly pronounced dead upon arrival. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are examining the issue of negligence in this case. SSP Divuana has urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant in supervising young children, highlighting that accidents can happen in an instant.
