A broad southeast flow will keep most of Fiji settled with cloudy periods and brief showers in a number of districts, while other areas remain mainly fine through the next 24 hours. Isolated afternoon and evening thunderstorms capable of heavy falls are likely in several locations, with moderate southeast winds and generally moderate seas around the group.
Cloudy periods with brief showers are expected across Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands. Yasawa and the Mamanuca group should remain mainly fine. Elsewhere, conditions will be mostly fine apart from the chance of an isolated shower during the afternoon or evening.
Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are possible over several population centres and interior districts. Navua, Suva and Nausori are forecast with cloudy periods and brief showers, with possible thunderstorms; temperatures around 23°C to 31°C. Similar conditions apply to Natadradave/Korovou, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni, while coastal areas such as Sigatoka, the Coral Coast, Nadi, Lautoka, Ba, Tavua, Rakiraki and Labasa can expect mainly fine weather but with a risk of afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms that may produce heavy rainfall. Maximum temperatures are generally in the low 30s Celsius, with Nadi/Lautoka/Ba and Labasa seeing highs up to about 33°C.
Marine and wind conditions will be dominated by moderate southeast winds and moderate seas for most areas. Rotuma is being affected by a weak trough and will see cloudier conditions with showers and the chance of isolated thunderstorms; there, southeasterly winds are expected to be moderate to fresh with seas moderate to rough, and temperatures around 24°C to 32°C.
Given the potential for heavy falls in isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, expect brief but intense downpours where storms develop and some localized pooling or reduced visibility in heavy rain. Boaters and those planning coastal activities should note the moderate seas and, in Rotuma, the likelihood of rougher conditions.
