Roger Qoro Sr is facing the heartbreaking loss of his son, Roger Qoro Jr, affectionately known as the “golden boy” of Sabeto Village, Nadi. The 12-year-old tragically passed away on Wednesday after being thrown from a moving vehicle.
On the day of the incident, Roger Jr had joined fellow members of the Revival Church for a festive New Year’s picnic at Natadola Beach. His father recounted how Roger Jr had taken a bus to the beach but decided to return with friends in a carrier that was transporting tents. In a devastating turn of events, his father received a call from his wife, indicating that their son had fallen off the carrier.
Eyewitnesses rushed the young boy to Sigatoka Hospital, where he was initially reported to be responsive but with closed eyes. However, Mr. Qoro’s fear came true when he contacted the hospital later that evening. He learned from hospital staff that his son had unfortunately passed away.
Reports indicate that Roger Jr suffered from severe internal injuries and bruising. He was not only admired for his academic prowess but also for his athletic achievements at Sabeto District School, earning him the beloved nickname “golden boy.”
