A one-year-old child has become the latest victim of a tragic road accident in Naitonitoni, Navua. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the child was with a parent and sibling when he allegedly wandered away from home unnoticed and stepped onto the road, where he was struck by a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
The driver hastily transported the child to Navua Hospital, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Ongoing investigations will include a review of possible negligence. SSP Divuana urges parents and guardians to exercise heightened vigilance in supervising young children, as accidents can happen in an instant.
