Ilisabeta Dravuni’s last words to her two sons, urging them to “love each other and that’s enough drinking,” resonate tragically in the aftermath of a heartbreaking event. While she was attending a church crusade in Naitasiri, news came that both her sons had been involved in a serious accident. Tragically, her younger son, Serupepeli Lalabalavu, 25, lost his life, while the older son, Waisea Qaliyalewa, 20, was rushed to CWM Hospital for urgent medical care.
Upon arriving at Vunidawa Hospital, Ilisabeta received the devastating news of her younger son’s passing. “This is the saddest day for our family,” she expressed, clearly overwhelmed by grief. The incident reportedly stemmed from an argument that escalated while the brothers were consuming alcohol at their home.
In light of this tragedy, Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana has urged the public to exercise responsibility, particularly around the use of alcohol, to prevent such distressing incidents from occurring in the future.
This sorrowful event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of communication and resolving conflicts peacefully, especially among family members. It also highlights the need for greater awareness regarding the dangers of excessive drinking, particularly in social situations.
In summary, the tragic accident not only brings grief to one family but also raises crucial awareness about the potential consequences of alcohol consumption and the importance of familial bonds. Hopefully, this can encourage others to reflect on their relationships and choices, fostering a spirit of love and understanding within families.
