Tilak High School Triumphs in Nail-Biting Championship Final

Tilak High School from Lautoka secured the title of the 2024 Digicel Fiji Secondary Schools Inter District Championship in Nadi yesterday, triumphing over Labasa Sangam College 1-0 in an intense final that extended into extra time.

The decisive goal was scored by Harsh Naidu, who converted a penalty to lead his team to victory. In addition to his match-winning performance, Naidu was recognized with the Golden Boot award for his outstanding contribution of eight goals throughout the tournament.

Tilak’s goalkeeper, Frank Dansey, was also honored with the Golden Glove award after achieving three clean sheets during the competition.

In the semifinals, Tilak demonstrated their strength by defeating Vashist Muni College from Navua with a convincing 4-0 score, thanks to a brace from Lautoka striker Sekove Luma, who also assisted in scoring other goals.

On their side, Labasa Sangam College made a significant comeback by overcoming the defending champions, Labasa College, in a penalty shootout, winning 5-4.

In other tournament results, Labasa College captured the U15 title after a penalty shootout victory against Tavua College, while Xavier College claimed the U17 title with a 4-1 win over SKKMC. In the Girls Open Grade, Ba Sanatan edged out Xavier College with a narrow 1-0 victory.
