Nancy Tikoisuva has been reappointed as the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), following confirmation of her appointment by President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. This decision was made on the recommendation of the Judicial Services Commission after consultations with Attorney General Graham Leung.
Tikoisuva previously held the Acting DPP position from July 11, 2024, until January 16, 2025, and her return comes as part of a leadership transition within the office. She has expressed her enthusiasm for this new chapter and encouraged her team to maintain their commitment to excellence.
In light of Tikoisuva’s vast experience, including prior roles as acting assistant director during her predecessor John Rabuku’s tenure, her reappointment is viewed positively. Tikoisuva is recognized not only for her extensive legal background, having worked with prominent organizations and earning a Master’s degree in Law, but also for her role as one of the few local women to hold such a critical position in the DPP office.
As she embarks on this new appointment, Tikoisuva aims to uphold the strategic direction of the office, supported by her capable team. She encourages female colleagues to persevere despite bureaucratic challenges and to let their work shine as proof of their capabilities. This message of resilience and support aligns with the ongoing efforts to promote gender equality within the legal profession.
The reappointment of Tikoisuva is seen as a step towards ensuring stability and continuity in the DPP’s leadership, fostering hope for a progressive and effective public prosecution system.
