Swire Shipping Fijian Drua captain Tevita Ikanivere is set to depart the club at the end of the 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season. Head coach Glen Jackson shared this development earlier in the week, indicating that Ikanivere’s matchup against the Western Force in Lautoka is expected to be his final home game for the Drua.
Jackson mentioned that several other players are also anticipated to be parting ways with the club, reflecting a broader effort to revitalize the roster with new talent. “We’re excited to finish well, but also looking ahead to next year. I think Tevita will come back in and lead the team in Lautoka, and he deserves a big finish in the game,” Jackson stated.
Ikanivere has been a vital component for the Drua since their entry into Super Rugby in 2022, participating in 48 matches and scoring 12 tries over the past four seasons. Beyond club commitments, he has also played a significant role on the international stage with 23 caps for the Flying Fijians since 2019, in addition to two appearances for the Barbarians.
This farewell signifies a transitional phase for the Drua, where the departure of key players creates opportunities for fresh talent to emerge and contribute to the team’s future endeavors. Coach Jackson’s positivity about building for the next season underscores a sense of hope for the Drua as they aim to strengthen their roster and continue their competitive rise in Super Rugby.
Fans of the Drua are encouraged to rally behind the team, celebrating Ikanivere’s contributions while looking forward to an exciting new chapter. The team’s resilience and commitment to improving offer a promising outlook as they navigate this period of change.
