Telecom Fiji, a leading telecommunications provider, has partnered with Advantage New Zealand to enhance its cybersecurity offerings through a managed detection and response (MDR) service utilizing SentinelOne technology. This advanced cybersecurity software is designed to detect and neutralize threats, such as ransomware, in real-time, thereby preventing potential damage.

With the integration of MDR and SentinelOne, Telecom Fiji is set to provide round-the-clock cyber threat detection, response, and mitigation services. These capabilities will be bolstered by a combination of artificial intelligence and expert human oversight, ensuring robust protection for their customers’ digital assets.

Shalvin Narayan, Telecom Fiji’s head of ICT, emphasized the critical nature of cybersecurity, stating that adverse incidents can significantly compromise key aspects such as confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. He noted that in today’s digital landscape, the security of information systems is not just a necessity but a fundamental responsibility to customers.

Narayan underlined that the partnership with Advantage stems from their proven track record in cybersecurity, including their ISO 270001 certification and various industry accolades. Steve Smith, Auckland regional manager at Advantage, highlighted that the SentinelOne technology is a foundational aspect of their Advantage-Protect MDR service. This service aims to address growing concerns regarding data loss and security breaches.

The collaboration is positioned to offer comprehensive security monitoring across all digital dimensions — including endpoints, servers, identities, networks, and cloud workloads. Smith indicated that Telecom Fiji is among a number of international clients benefiting from the extensive expertise provided by Advantage.

The increasing adoption of MDR services showcases a proactive approach by organizations in combating cybersecurity threats, emphasizing the industry’s commitment to safeguarding digital environments against potential breaches and damages.

This partnership not only exemplifies a concerted effort towards enhanced digital security but also reflects a broader trend in the telecommunications industry to invest in advanced technologies and expertise in the face of rising cyber threats.
