The West vs East Snooker Tournament, sponsored by Shop and Save, concluded successfully on Sunday, with Team West securing victory by winning 10 out of 17 frames against a strong East Team. The event was organized by the North West Snooker and Billiard Association (NWBSA) and was marked by fierce competition coupled with sportsmanship.
NWBSA spokesperson Roneil Sami expressed his appreciation to all the participants and sponsors who contributed to the tournament’s success. He acknowledged the East players for participating in the event and expressed gratitude towards the Western players, who turned out in significant numbers despite some not being part of the matches. Sami highlighted the importance of sponsorships, thanking M.Recht and Shop and Save Supermarket, with particular recognition for Sanjay Prasad, a trustee of Northwest Snooker, who has committed to further sponsorship for next year’s tournament.
The day’s festivities included a lunch and social gathering where players and officials celebrated the event’s accomplishments. The Lautoka Club staff and management were praised for their support in hosting the tournament.
Looking ahead, the NWBSA will shift its focus to the upcoming ranking tournament set to take place on February 22-23 at Tavua Club, honoring the memory of the late Pravin Singh.
The event not only showcased the skills of local snooker players but also served as a unifying occasion for the community, promoting camaraderie and a love for the sport.
