Team Fiji has made significant strides in the medal standings at the Pacific Mini Games in Palau, securing third place after Day 6 of competition. The team currently boasts an impressive total of 18 gold, 24 silver, and 19 bronze medals, showcasing their remarkable athletic talent.
In athletics, Team Fiji shone with standout performances. Waisale Inoke clinched gold in the Men’s Octathlon, successfully completing eight events, where he excelled in the 100m, long jump, shot put, 100m hurdles, and javelin, accumulating 4,927 points. Inoke expressed gratitude for his family’s support, dedicating his victory to them. Reki Roberts earned gold in the Women’s Heptathlon with a total of 3,613 points, dominating in several events and thanking her family for their assistance throughout her journey.
In addition to the gold medalists, Fiji’s rising star, Sera Nasilivata, captured bronze in the women’s 100m, while Waisake Tewa earned bronze in the men’s event. Adi Ceva Lutumailagi secured silver in the Women’s 800m, and both Heleina Young and Naibena Tuilawaki qualified for the Women’s 400m final, building excitement for upcoming events. Moreover, Naibili Vatunisolo achieved gold in the Women’s Javelin Throw Para Ambulant with a throw of 21.96m, contributing further to Fiji’s medal haul.
