A significant development has emerged for educators in Fiji, as 395 teachers who have enhanced their qualifications are set to receive a payment of 50 percent of their salary upgrades soon, with the remaining half scheduled for distribution in January 2025. This announcement was made by the Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, during the Fiji Teachers Registration Authority Annual Congress held in Nadi.
In addition, Radrodro indicated that 103 Assistant Principals will see an increase in their salary bands, distinguishing them from Heads of Departments. He expressed gratitude to all teachers committed to improving their professional qualifications and engaging in diverse areas of learning, including management. This commitment aligns with the government’s goal to retain talented educators by ensuring they are compensated fairly for their continued dedication.
The congress is ongoing today, continuing to foster discussions around educational advancements and teacher support.
This initiative showcases a positive step towards recognizing the hard work of educators and the government’s commitment to investing in the teaching profession, ultimately benefiting both students and the educational system as a whole.
