Education Minister Aseri Radrodro has announced a significant financial boost for teachers in Fiji, with a payout amounting to $988,648.30 scheduled for the final pay of 2024. This payout is part of an initiative aimed at rewarding educators who have enhanced their qualifications in accordance with the Teacher Remuneration Policy.

The total expenditure for these increments is projected to be $2.3 million for the financial year 2024-2025. Those teachers who meet the relevant criteria will receive a permanent upgrade to either Band E, Step 1, or Band F, Step 3 within the Fiji Civil Service pay structure.

Minister Radrodro emphasized the crucial role of teachers in fostering a robust education system, asserting that this initiative serves as a recognition of their commitment to delivering quality education. He underscored that adequate remuneration is essential for retaining a talented and dedicated teaching workforce, which is essential for the ongoing evolution of the educational landscape in Fiji.

This initiative not only acknowledges the hard work of teachers but also aims to strengthen the foundation of education in the country. As we look forward, there is hope that such measures can contribute to a more empowered and resilient teaching community, ultimately benefitting students and the broader society.

In summary, the government’s investment in upgraded teacher qualifications reflects a commitment to enhancing educational quality and supporting educators in their professional development.
