Teachers who have recently upgraded their qualifications in line with the Teacher Remuneration Policy are encouraged to check their bank accounts. The Ministry of Education has announced a payment totaling $988,648.30 to reward these educators for their commitment to professional development.
Minister for Education, Aseri Radrodro, expressed that this payment reflects the Coalition government’s dedication to promoting excellence in the education sector. He emphasized that this financial recognition aligns with their efforts to ensure teachers are compensated fairly. The total financial impact of this initiative is projected to be $2.3 million for the 2024-2025 fiscal year, with eligible teachers permanently moving up to Band E, Step 1 or Band F, Step 3 within the Fiji Civil Service pay structure.
Radrodro reiterated the vital role teachers play in the education system, commending them for their diligence and dedication. He mentioned that this payout is one of the ways the government acknowledges and rewards teachers for their essential contributions to creating a quality workforce.
This initiative not only aims to support teachers’ financial well-being but also highlights the government’s commitment to fostering a skilled and well-qualified teaching body, which ultimately benefits students and the education system as a whole. It reflects a positive step towards valuing the profession and encouraging ongoing professional development among educators.
