The Fiji Meteorological Service has reported that Tropical Disturbance TD08F, situated near American Samoa, has a low probability of evolving into a tropical cyclone over the next 24 to 48 hours. The assessment, detailed in the latest Tropical Disturbance Summary, indicates that the system’s position is fair, as determined by Himawari-9 satellite imagery and peripheral surface observations.

TD08F is currently moving slowly and is characterized by convection emerging to the northeast of its low-level circulation center; however, its overall organization remains weak. According to the Weather Office, the cyclonic circulation penetrates up to 600 hectopascals, and while the environment is generally low in upper-level divergence, it is experiencing low to moderate wind shear. The surrounding sea surface temperatures are approximately 29 degrees Celsius.

Global weather models forecast that TD08F is expected to continue moving southeast with minimal chance of intensification. The Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre in Nadi has reiterated the low potential for this system to develop into a tropical cyclone within the specified timeframe.

The Fiji Meteorological Service remains vigilant, ensuring continuous monitoring of TD08F and committing to provide updates should its conditions change. This proactive approach highlights the importance of preparedness and awareness in the face of potential weather developments.
