Tara’s Supermarket has pledged $3,000 to become the major sponsor of the 2025 Tailevu Rugby Union 10s tournament, marking a landmark partnership aimed at supporting grassroots rugby in the region. The sponsorship package consists of $2,500 in cash and $500 in in-kind contributions, underscoring the supermarket’s commitment to the Tailevu community.

Amish Patel, managing director of Tara’s Supermarket, emphasized the supermarket’s long history of serving the Nausori area and Tailevu Province, stating, “For over four decades, Tara’s Supermarket has proudly served the people of Nausori and the wider Tailevu Province.” He also highlighted the tournament’s significance beyond sports, describing it as a movement rooted in community, unity, and opportunity, with both men’s and women’s teams involved.

President of the Tailevu Rugby Union, Joseph Rodan Snr, remarked that the timing of the sponsorship was crucial as the newly elected executive had recently completed a comprehensive business plan for 2025 to 2030 aimed at sustainable grassroots development. He emphasized the alignment of the union’s vision with its subcommittees, fostering a cooperative environment for long-term growth.

Rodan noted that all sponsors will receive visibility through the union’s social media and communications channels, positioning the partnership as beneficial for both community spirit and business exposure. Additionally, Malakai Yamaivava, chairman of the Tailevu Rugby Union Club Games, expressed gratitude to Tara’s Supermarket for their support, stating it plays a significant role in bringing the union’s development goals to fruition.

This sponsorship reflects a trend of local businesses actively investing in community sports, similar to previous contributions from Tara’s Supermarket to events like the Nausori Rugby 10s tournament. The enthusiastic collaboration among local sponsors indicates a growing commitment to nurturing young talent and building community cohesion through rugby.

As excitement builds within the region, the commitment from Tara’s Supermarket to support the 2025 Tailevu Rugby Union 10s tournament is not just a financial investment; it is a hopeful sign of the ongoing support for sports initiatives that inspire unity and potential within the Tailevu community.
