Sila Balawa, the General Secretary of the People’s Alliance Party (PAP), announced that the party is currently evaluating the situation regarding MP Lynda Tabuya, who was recently dismissed from her cabinet position following the emergence of an explicit video online.

The Executive Committee of the party convened for a lengthy two-hour meeting to discuss the implications of this incident and to outline the next steps for addressing it. A disciplinary committee has been appointed to conduct a detailed investigation, which is set to be completed within a 21-day timeframe. Tabuya will have the opportunity to present her side of the story to the committee during this process.

The committee, consisting of six members, is ensuring that their investigation is conducted with a focus on independence, integrity, and confidentiality.

This situation underscores the complexities and challenges faced by public figures and political organizations in the age of digital media. As the investigation unfolds, it will be crucial for the party to balance accountability with fairness, fostering trust and transparency within its ranks.

It’s a reminder of the ongoing need for responsible behavior by individuals in public office and the importance of protecting personal privacy, even in a highly connected world. As the PAP navigates this issue, the outcome could set important precedents for both party governance and the conduct expected of its members moving forward.
