Lynda Tabuya, recently appointed Minister for Information, has officially reapplied for a candidacy ticket under The People’s Alliance (PA) party in preparation for the upcoming General Election. Tabuya, who secured the second-highest votes for her party and the fourth-highest overall among all candidates in the last election, expresses optimism about her reapplication being accepted.
Tabuya remains steadfast in her belief in the vision of The People’s Alliance, the party that facilitated her entry into government. She made her move promptly, submitting her application before the deadline at the end of last month, indicating her determination despite the challenges she has faced.
In her statement, she emphasized the significance of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s leadership and expressed hope for a victorious outcome in the next General Election, while also extending well wishes to her competitors. Notably, she acknowledged new members joining the PA, including those who have transitioned from opposition parties, thereby reflecting the evolving political landscape in Fiji.
The anticipated date for the 2026 General Election is August 7, with the latest possible election date set for February 6, 2027.
This renewed commitment from Tabuya aligns with her previous declarations of dedication to public service, calling attention to the importance of supporting marginalized communities and pushing for continued progress.
