A 47-year-old man has been arrested and charged with the murders of two individuals following a brutal stabbing incident in northwest Sydney early Sunday morning. According to New South Wales Police, emergency services were alerted to a loud disturbance at a residence on Illabo Street in Quakers Hill shortly before 5 a.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered a critically injured 30-year-old man on the footpath outside the home, while a 38-year-old woman was found deceased in the kitchen, both suffering from multiple stab wounds. The deceased woman has been identified as Anaseini Waqavuki, prompting an overwhelming outpouring of grief from the Fijian community, with many tributes and condolences circulating on social media.

The injured man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and rushed to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead around 9 a.m. The suspect, who has prior police contacts and is believed to be Waqavuki’s former partner, turned himself in at Blacktown Police Station around 5:30 a.m. He has been charged with two counts of murder.

As investigations continue, the suspect is expected to appear in court in New South Wales.
